Jordan's Tourism Revenues Rise By 11% in Q12014


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) man April 21 -- Jordan's tourism sector grew by 11 percent in the first quarter of 2014 a rise of three percent compared to the same period of 2013 according to Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nidal Qatamin. The minister pointed to the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) figures which showed that tourism revenues in the first quarter of this year stood at JD728 million compared to JD655 in the same period of last year. At a press conference on Monday he said that the number of overnight visitors in the first three months of this year stood at 932000 compared to 904000 last year due to a rise in the number of foreign tourists visiting the Kingdom. Qatamina added that the number of same-day visitors dropped by 19 percent noting that this is good for the ministry which seeks to increase the number of overnight visitors.
