(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) kyo April 21 - Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan met at the imperial palce in Tokyo city on Monday with HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser the Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education Science and Community Development (QF). Their royal highnesses welcomed HE Sheikha Moza wishing HH success .They also discussed a set of issues of mutual concern esepcially the flourishing relations between the two countries. HH sheikha moza later met with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to discuss joint cooperation in the fields of education culture science and technology. HH the QF chairperson also conferred with Japanese Miniter Of Education Culture Sports Science and Technology Hakubun Shimomura to discuss exchange of students'visits scholarships research cooperation as related to priorities and grand challenges involved in Qatar National Research Strategy (QNRS) . Earlier today HH sheikha Moza visited the Sony Corp Headquarters in Tokyo and met with Sony Chief Executive Officer Kazuo Hirai Director of the Sony Computer Science Laboratories Hiroaki Kitano and Sony Executive Vice President Officer Shoji Nemoto to discuss areas of computing research in Qatar and Japan. HH also met with representatives from each of the Sony Corporation Japan's National Institute of Informatics Japan's National Institute of Information and Communications Technology the University of Tokyo and Keio University. Talks during the meeting dealt with ways of using new technology for social benefit and the prospects of future cooperation between technology institutes in Japan and Qatar Institute for computing Research. The visit of HH sheikha moza to Japan came on the heels of the visit of Japanese premier Shinzo Abe to Qatar last year where the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on expanding joint cooperation in several fields including sustainable energy education technology infrastructure development and culture exchange.
