(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Sharjah international airport recorded an eight per cent increase in passenger traffic in the first quarter of this year marking its busiest three months ever.
a total of 2.25 million passengers travelled through the airport from january to march 2014 compared to 2.08 million in the same period last year. aircraft movements registered in the first quarter of this year reached 16373 while freight handled for the same period recorded 51045 tonnes. sea-air cargo posted 7289 tonnes.
ali salim al midfa chairman of the sharjah airport authority said: “as the numbers clearly suggest robust passenger traffic growth continues. this is being driven by the efficiency of procedures excellent services and the strategic location of sharjah international airport.”
