(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education Rashid Al-Nuwaihidh announced here on Sunday that the Ministry will provide 6,000 scholarships for Kuwaiti students in the coming academic year.
He added that the big number of the scholarships is meant to meet the growing demand of high schools graduates who are seeking to pursue their education abroad.
Al-Nuwaihidh revealed, during a press conference, that the scholarships cover up to 110 educational disciplines including 89 scientific disciplines, literary as well as interdisciplinary ones.
He said the ministry was able, through cooperation with cultural attaches in different countries, to increase the number of scholarships in the disciplines of dentistry, pharmacy and nursing from 100 to 600 because of Kuwait's urgent need for such specialties.
He stressed all scholarships receivers will study in globally-recognized universities.
