(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Teach For Qatar, a non-governmental organisation that re-invests young talent in the public education system, has joined hands with key partners to train youth to become teachers.
Memoranda of understanding were signed to this effect between Supreme Education Council (SEC), Qatar Petroleum (QP), and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF).
The MoUs were signed by
H E Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of TFQ, with H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education (on behalf of SEC), H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry (on behalf of QP), and Engineer Saad Al Muhannadi, President of Qatar Foundation.
"Teach For Qatar, alongside our partners, is seeking young people, academic achievers, and talented professionals to become transformational leaders in the classroom and the community," said Sheikha Hind. "Thanks to the support of these notable institutions, we can inspire exceptional graduates and young professionals to be part of the solution." Speaking on the significance of the agreement with TFQ, Dr Hammadi, said, "TFQ's goals are in line with the strategic aims of the Supreme Education Council, in reinstating nationwide respect for the field of teaching. We are working tirelessly in recruiting Qatar's top talent to join this group of teachers, which will have a tremendous impact on Qatar's future generations."
TFQ is an NGO that attracts young leaders from various backgrounds and specialisations, provides them with rigorous training, and then places them as teachers in independent schools across Qatar for a two year 'fellowship'. Fellows continue to receive training, mentorship, and regular reviews throughout their full-time teaching jobs.
Upon completion of the two-year teaching placement, Fellows can continue to contribute to the development of Qatar's education system through career pathways developed by TFQ alongside Qatari institutions across various sectors.
Dr Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of Qatar Petroleum expressed QP's pride in supporting the Teach For Qatar mission. He said, "We hope that this agreement would enable young professionals with knowledge and skills to help enhance Qatar's educational system, and to actively contribute to the efforts for sustained development".

Qatar Foundation will work closely with TFQ to provide fellows with access to their expertise and to their unique model of shared services. Al Muhannadi said, "Qatar Foundation is extremely honoured and privileged to be joining this exciting initiative by providing Teach for Qatar guidance, support and expertise as part of overall efforts to further strengthen the public education system in Qatar."
TFQ fellows will also benefit from the training programmes as well as QP's endorsement of TFQ in Qatar's oil and gas community. TFQ is the 32nd member of the Teach For All, recognised as one of the world's 100 strongest NGOs in 2013 by the Global Journal.
