(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The new generation malayalam cinema has got a big boost with the new actors and technicians brought by it bagging 25 of the 36 titles in the 46th kerala state film awards announced by minister for films thiruvanchoor radhakrishnan on saturday.
fahad faasil who leads the new generation actors shared the best actor award with lal who made a mark as a versatile actor in new generation films. while fahad won the award for his performances in two films artist and north 24 katham the roles in ayaal and zachariyayude garbhinikal brought the award to lal.
suraj venjaramood who won the national award for best actor along with rajkumar rao ended up with the best comedian award. the seven-member state jury headed by veteran director bharatiraja selected him for the honour for his performance in the films daivathinte swantham cletus and pullippulikalum attinkuttikalum.
ann augustine is the best actress. she won the honour for her performance in artist. shyamaprasad who directed the film is the best director. crime no.89 directed by sudevan is the best film. the second best film is north 24 kaatham directed by anil c radhakrishnan.
ashok kumar (cr no: 89) and lena (left right left and kanyaka talkies) won awards for the second best actor and actress respectively. karthik (orissa) and vaikom vijayalakshmi (nadan) were selected as best male and female singers. ousepachan was adjudged best music director (nadan).
baby anakha and sanoop santhosh have been selected as the best child artiste for anchu sundarikal and philips and monkey pen respectively. the special award for the popular film went to drishyam. the film has also fetched sujith vasudevan the award for best cinematographer.
