Bahrain To Host 2nd National Security and Regional Security of the GCC on Wednesday


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) nama April 20 - Under the patronage of Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa the Bahrain Centre for Strategic International and Energy Studies "DERSASAT" will organise the second National Security and Regional Security of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf Conference next Wednesday April 23 in Kingdom of Bahrain. Prominent political and academic Arab figures will participate in the two-day conference to shed light on the most important issues of GCC's national and regional security the present challenges and future strategies to face these challenges. Chairman of the "King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies" Prince Turki Al-Faisal; former Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah; GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani; and President of Diplomatic Centre for Strategic Studies and GCC former Secretary-General Abdullah Bishara will deliver speeches during the opening session. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of DERASAT Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Ghaffar said:' Gulf states are facing internal and external threats as a reflection to the developments in their regional environment and major countries strategies towards the region.' He added that:' DERASAT is keen to identify the most important Gulf issues in order to be examined from a strategic and futuristic perspective through gathering political and academic elite from the GCC wishing to contribute to the analysis of threats to the security of the Gulf and giving practical solutions to face such threats. He said that the Conference is held in light of the current circumstances and developments in the region such as the instability in a number of Arab countries like Syria Yemen and Iraq which he said raises several important questions on the impact of these events on the security of the Gulf and about GCC countries strategies of security. The Conference is the second in a series of security conferences organized by DERASAT that address security issues of the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council with the aim to make recommendations towards a collective GCC security strategic concept. It also aims to provide insights into the security challenges facing GCC countries and the potential role of internal and external risks and threat.
