China Unicom net profit up 73 percent in Q1


(MENAFN) Telecom operator China Unicom announced a significant net profit increase in the January-March period of this year, Xinhua reported. China's second largest telecom operator said that its net profit soared 73.7 percent during the period, reaching USD180.3 million. The firm's business revenues went up to USD12.7 billion, increasing 8.4 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier. China Unicom's major mobile businesses increased 15.6 percent on year to reach USD6.8 billion. New mobile phone users increased by 8.71 million during the three-month period to reach a total of 289.69 million.
