(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) An Omani man was arrested on Saturday from the southern Indian city of Hyderabad for allegedly marrying two underage girls.
Reports in Indian media said the accused arrived in India on April 5 on a tourist visa and married a 14 year old girl four days later, and a 15 year old girl on April 15 after paying their mothers R60,000 (approximately RO383) and R80,000 (approximately RO510) respectively through brokers. It is being investigated whether he had married minor girls earlier too.
According to the reports, he also faces charges of sexually assaulting the 15 year old girl between April 15 and 18.
Eleven others were arrested in the case including those who performed the wedding rituals and the facilitators.
