(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Omantel has taken a number of steps to improve the home broadband service that is provided through ADSL and FTTH technologies.

Among these steps were the recent speed upgrade that benefitted more than 90 per cent of the customers, simplifying the procedures for applying for the service as well as enabling customers to change their packages electronically through the company's website. The demand on fixed broadband service has recently witnessed a considerable growth with the number of subscribers crossing 100,000.

Omantel Home Broadband service enjoys the highest share in the market with more than 60 per cent of the total number of home broadband customers; thanks to the reliability, high speeds, unlimited usage this unique service offers. Multiple users in the same home can share the service through the Wi-Fi which is easily activated once the router is on. ''No doubt that Omantel Home Broadband service has become the first choice for fixed broadband users, thanks to its reliability, unlimited usage and high speeds,'' said al Shadli al Abdul Salam, senior manager, product development at Omantel Consumer Unit.

''As the case with any fixed service, the provisioning of the service is subject to several technical considerations. Omantel seeks to eliminate the difficulties either through the rapid network expansion and development by installing neighbourhood exchanges named MSANs or through facilitating the easy application for the service. Our customers can now apply for the service electronically through the internet without the need to visit any of our outlets.

Once the application is received, our technicians will contact the customer to fix a date for connecting the service. Moreover, our existing subscribers can now easily upgrade their packages through Omantel website,'' he said. The major improvements introduced by Omantel to the Home Broadband service have yielded well with the number of subscribers growing remarkably, he conclud
