(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Sri Sri Ayurveda clinic, part of Art of Living Oman, held a workshop on prevention and management of diabetes through ayurveda, at the Bahja Hall of Jungle restaurant in Qurm recently.
The event, attended by about 400 people, had an interactive session on diabetes.
Dr Abhishek Kumar, an ayurveda specialist at Sri Sri Ayurveda clinic in Oman, spoke on various ways to combat the disease. He also gave a detailed presentation on how ayurveda can help.
''Oman is among the six MENA nations that feature among the top ten countries of the world with the highest prevalence of diabetes and pre-diabetes, he said citing 2009 data of the International Diabetes Federation. The main reasons for it are sedentary lifestyle, consumption of junk foods and increasing stress levels,'' said Dr Kumar.
He also explained how ayurveda had helped several patients to reduce dependence on insulin.
''Herbal medicines and therapies like panchakarma and abhyangam, accompanied by dietary and lifestyle modifications have helped many people regulate diabetes.'' <
