Saudi- Pharmacy shuttered for selling expired products

(MENAFN - Arab News) Field inspection teams of the ministry of commerce and industry recently closed down a pharmacy in hafr al-batin in the northeast of the kingdom for selling expired infant formula cosmetics and other pharmaceutical products the saudi press agency reported.

the seized items were immediately destroyed and the owner of the pharmacy summoned for further investigation.

during the tours to the pharmacy the inspection teams uncovered more than 4000 items unfit for human consumption including 218 packs of expired powdered milk 75 packs of drugs 3000 pharmaceutical products and 382 tins of infant milk formula the agency quoted ministry officials as saying.

some of the seized items contained cosmetic products which had expiry dates as far back as 2011.

the ministry called on consumers to report complaints and observations at its toll free number 800 124 1616.
