Paliban Prisoners Break out of Jail in Northern Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) bul April 18 - At least three Taliban militants escaped from a prison in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan on Thursday night after clashing with the jail guards. According to local government officials the Taliban prisoners used weapons smuggled into the detention facility to fight with the policemen. Provincial governor spokesman Ahmad Jawad Dedar said at least three policemen were killed along with a Taliban prisoner during the clashes. Dedar further added the Taliban militants who escapred from the prison last night are low-level Taliban operatives who were jailed for planting improvised explosive device (IED). He said the militants launched the attack using hand grenades and started shooting policemen with the pistol which was smuggled inside the jail. Dedar also added that an investigation has been launched regarding the smuggle of weapons and explosives inside the facilityKhaama Press (KP) reported.
