Culture Minister to Honor Qatari Pioneers in Heritage


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) ha April 17 - Qatar will honour on Sunday a group of Qatari personalities who took interest in heritage and exerted efforts in the field as part of the World Heritage Day celebration which falls on April 18. HE Minister if Culture Arts and Heritage Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari will honor a group of Qatari heritage pioneers during the event which gained more significance after Qatar Museums Authority announced in 2013 that Zubarah town had become a UNESCO world heritage site. The World Heritage Day proposed by UNESCO in 1972 classified as heritage cultural sites that include monuments architecture and urban sites of exceptional value as well as natural sites of universal standing. Dr. Al-Kuwari said this year's celebration is different thanks to the achievements made in the field of heritage. "Heritage is one of the main pillars of development in Qatar and is also one of the main pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030's cultural aspect" he was quoted as saying by QNA. "We always believe that development is a two-sided coin ... The first face of development lies in construction and modernization and the second aspect is identity. And there is no doubt that heritage is one of the most important aspects of identity and this was emphasized by the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the 2016 strategy" Dr. Al-Kuwari added.
