(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) The summer has arrived and so has the time to shed the extra kilos you gained in the winter.

a combination of good diet and exercise can help you lose weight in the healthiest manner.

here are few simple tricks to shed weight.

trick 1: make water your best friend. we all crave for cool drinks in summers. but suppress that craving and have water instead. if you’re bored of drinking water then you can add mint leaves or lemon for flavor. you can also opt for coconut water.

trick 2: eat light dinner preferably three hours before going to bed. include lots of greens and avoid eating carbohydrates at night.

trick 3: try to have breakfast within 15 minutes of waking up. in case you work out in the morning then have an apple at least 30 minutes before you start. your body goes into fasting mode while you are asleep. this will help in kick-starting your metabolism.

apart from these simple tricks you can also include these five exercises to reach your ideal weight.

exercise 1: bicycle. depending on how fast you ride this can be an easy calorie burner and can help you burn 500-1000 calories per hour.

exercise 2: swimming. it is certainly a top exercise to lose weight and tone up especially in summer. doing reps up and down the pool can help you burn up to 800 calories per hour.

exercise 3: walking. brisk walking is a great cardio workout and helps you tone your legs hips and stomach. you can easily burn up to 360 calories per hour.

exercise 4: dancing. it is a fun and easy way of shedding weight. dancing targets your whole body and can make you lose up to 800 calories per hour. in addition to burning fat dancing is also a great stress reliever.

exercise 5: yoga. stretching is very good for your body. yoga is very effective in losing weight. yoga is also very good in combating many diseases. if practiced religiously it can help lose up to 180 calories per hour.
