(MENAFN - Arab News) Riyadh travel fair (rtf) a significant annual event where the leading travel and tourism companies from around the world gathers with exhibitors representing tourist promotion authorities at various levels under one roof for four consecutive days opened to the public on wednesday after its inauguration on tuesday amid a colorful ceremony.

the travel fair which is in its sixth year is being organized by asas exhibitions.

speaking to arab news on the first visiting day bander al-gryni asas exhibitions general manager said: “we proudly announce rtf 2014 from apr 15 to april 18 as the biggest travel and tourism trade show in the kingdom specialized in b2c and b2b dealings after continuous successes since its inception in 2009.”

representatives from different countries are participating in the mega fair to showcase and share their valuable inputs.

participating with great enthusiasm in rtf 2014 matthias albrecht director gcc for switzerland tourism told arab news said: “rtf convened in the saudi capital is considered as a significant annual event for the travel and tourism industry as the leading companies from the sector from the gulf co-operation council (gcc) countries and around the world gathers here share their expertise as we reach some very good and quality customers as the fair offer direct opportunity for us to interact to meet and share the experience without mediation from the travel and tour operators.”

he said as switzerland is the most visited tourist attraction with tourists being drawn to its alpine climate and landscapes in particular for skiing and mountaineering. “we have decorated separate divisions to illustrate distinctive features for tourists and visitors.”

sharing his experience ahmed bin al-shaikh overseas promotion manager sharjah commerce and tourism development authority said: “on the very second day of the four-day event we have got very encouraging response from the visitors customers as well as other exhibitors representing tourist promotion authorities and tourist companies at the gcc and international levels.”

he exuded confidence that the experience will be gaining moment for us with the overwhelming response over the next two days.

jihad hussain managing director of the gateway malabar holidays pvt. ltd. (india) said: “we are getting good response here as kerala is a perfect destination for tourism holidays honeymoon art culture traditionhealth care ayurveda and meditation. we are getting very encouraging responses from the visitors and hopeful to attract more at such an important podium where companies from around the globe participate.”

sam ratnayake assistant destination manager sunway holidays a destination management company for sri lanka and maldives expressed his delight and gratitude to be the part of the biggest travel and tourism trade show in the kingdom specialized in b2c and b2b dealings. “saudi arabia is an emerging market that we are eagerly looking forward to develop a good customer base here” he said.

representatives from turkey malaysia other european and american countries are also participating in the rtf 2014.

prince turki bin abdullah deputy governor of riyadh opened the rtf 2014 on tuesday.
