(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Muriya, Oman's leading tourism development company has joined forces with the Muscat Triathlon Club to host the club's last event of the winter season, the Off-Road Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlon at Jebel Sifah.

The Muscat Triathlon Club designed the course to allow participants to take in all the sights and sounds of the Jebel Sifah as they push their limits in the three race events including swimming, cycling and running. The triathlon is scheduled to start in front of the Sifawy Boutique Hotel at 4pm on April 25, with registration open from 2pm.

Bahaa Hefzallah, marketing director, Muriya, said, ''We are very excited about the triathlon as this is the first time the Jebel Sifah will be hosting an athletic event. Whether you are competing, supporting a loved one or just want to be a spectator, the setting and facilities at Jebel Sifah are guaranteed to provide you with a memorable day.

''In addition to giving the athletes the chance to take in some majestic views, the race transition area and finish line are both located in front of the Sifawy Boutique Hotel, allowing family and friends to cheer on competitors as they enjoy the ambience of the hotel located on the marina promenade.'' Mohamed al Obaidani, chairman, Muscat Triathlon Club, said, ''Experienced triathletes taking part in the Off-Road Sprint Triathlon will be giving it their best as the event kicks off with a 750m swim in the calm waters of the marina.

This is followed by a fast gritty 15km off-road bike course while the final leg of the race is a 5km run around the marina and Sifawy Boutique Hotel complex. ''We also included the Super Sprint race to the line-up of activities. This a special event designed for ten to 16 year olds and beginners, featuring shorter distances and a less technical bike course.''

The event has been organised with the whole family in mind, including a team option for families who want to participate together. The day will end off with a festive barbeque at the Sifawy Boutique Hotel as the Muscat Triathlon Club celebrates the end of a successful winter season. Competitors and spectators wishing to stay over at the Sifawy Boutique Hotel can take advantage of a special rate arranged by the Club
