next up for the top-ranked gaultier is mohamed el shorbagy after the third seed accounted for another englishman peter barker.

barker the seventh seed was no match for el shorbagy who chalked up an 11-8 11-6 3-11 11-3 win in 56 minutes.

in the all-egyptian quarter-finals second seed ramy ashour and fifth seed amr shabana progressed past their countrymen in contrasting fashion.

ashour facing a re-match of the 2010 final against sixth seed karim darwish advanced after just 16 minutes when the latter retired injured with the score 11-7 4-0.

shabana endured the early challenge of omar mosaad before posting a 12-10 8-11 11-4 11-8 in one hour and five minutes.
