307 arrested for Labour Law violations in Oman's Mudhaibi wilayat


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) As many as 307 workers found violating the Labour Law were arrested from Mudhaibi in a midnight raid. The arrests were made by ROP along with the Manpower Directorate in Mudhaibi affiliated to the Directorate General of Manpower in North Sharqiyah. 

Those arrested included eight absconding workers and five who didn't have valid work documents. Hilal al Majidi, a labour inspector at the office of joint inspection in North Sharqiyah was quoted in the release as saying, ''Employers of the absconding workers have been asked to present passports of these workers along with a copy of absconding report for deportation procedures.

''The Inquiries and Criminal Investigations Department at Mudhaibi police station has been asked to check backgrounds of the other five workers before

referring them to the Public Prosecution.'' Majidi said that employers of the remaining 294 workers have been informed about their arrests. ''These employers will have to submit documents to prove that these workers were not working in areas other than what their visas mentioned.''
