CCE to offer New Courses and Programmes at GHEDEX 2014

(MENAFNEditorial) Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE), a leading provider of engineering education in Oman, will be promoting new programmes and short courses during this year's GHEDEX 2014. As Gold Sponsor of Muscat's premier higher education exhibition, CCE looks forward to supporting this annual event from 22nd to 24th April, 2014, at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in Muscat. In its 18th year of operations and with the largest engineering faculty in Oman, CCE has worked steadily to become a leader in the quality provision of human resource development in the country and was one of the first private colleges to offer fully accredited bachelor and master degrees in engineering. During GHEDEX 2014, CCE will be promoting their new Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Honours Degree programmes in Computer Aided Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electronic & Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Operations &Maintenance, Telecommunication Engineering and Civil Engineering, among other courses and programmes. Commenting on the strength of this new suite of engineering programmes, introduced in the current academic year, Dr Ahmed Al Bulushi, the Acting Dean of CCE, pointed to the compulsory, credit-bearing industry placement as an important feature of the new programmes. Designed, in Dr Ahmed's words, to"enhance a student's employability", the BEng structure supports more practical training and a deeper understanding of industry. The programmes also reflect the national emphasis on entrepreneurialism and, through a dedicated centre within the college, allows for the incubation of innovative student projects from idea to start-up. CCE offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in broad areas of engineering, namely in civil, mechanical, electrical, electronic, computer and chemical engineering. All engineering programmes, which include mandatory English language support, are of four-year duration, following completion of a comprehensive foundation programme. GHEDEX, Oman's preferred higher education exhibition, falls under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and showcases accredited national, international, local and regional colleges and universities. It also highlights the latest developments in the field of education for the benefit of students, parents and visitors. CCE meets with thousands of prospective students and their parents at this event each year and CCE's Acting Dean, Dr Ahmed, comments that "the opportunity to meet with school-leavers, mature students, parents, fellow participants and the public at large is a highlight of the higher education calendar".
