British house prices up 9.1 pct in Feb


(MENAFN) The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said that British house prices showed an increase by 9.1 percent in February compared to the same month in 2013, scoring the highest increase in nearly 4 years, Xinhua reported. The ONS said that the prices of British houses were growing strongly throughout Britain, with London scoring the highest growth rate after prices surged 17.7 percent. With an average house price of USD766,000, London remained to be the most expensive area in Britain. The North East area scored the lowest average house price, which stopped at USD244,121. The British government announced that the house stimulus scheme "Help to Buy" would be extended until 2020 in a bid to boost house construction throughout the country.
