(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) manApril 15 -Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour met on Tuesday with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui to discuss bilateral ties as well as the latest developments related to the Palestinian issue. Ensour said relations between Jordan and China are progressively developing in various fields pointing to the visit of the minister of planning and international cooperation to China earlier this month to follow up and build on the visit of King Abdullah II to China last September. The Jordanian government he said encourages the Foreign Ministry to work with its Chinese counterpart to achieve a strategic partnership agreement between the two countries as soon as possible noting that the two ministries are about to draft a memorandum of understanding in this regard. During the meeting attended by the delegation accompanying the Chinese official the prime minister pointed to the wide scope for increasing bilateral cooperation noting that Jordan which is a major producer of phosphate and potash welcomes the opening of Chinese markets and constructing factories to manufacture fertilizer in Jordan. Ensour said Jordan was interested in benefiting from the Chinese technology in exploiting crude oil shale and welcomed Chinese investments in this domain. The Kingdom he added is also interested in the railway project which he said was a promising project that could link Arab Gulf countries with Europe through Jordan and with Egypt and African countries through Egypt. The prime minister said this project will have political economic and strategic impact. He also thanked China for its continued support to the Palestinian issue adding that a stable Middle East is in the interest of all including China. The Chinese official on his part pointed to the successful visit of His Majesty to China last September during which he agreed with the Chinese president to forge closer ties between the two countries. The Chinese president he said welcomes another visit by His Majesty to China to take part in the 6th Arab-Chinese Cooperation Forum which will contribute to boosting cooperation between China and the Arab world
