
Interpol Detains Mubarak's Last Finance Minister in Paris
(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) iro April 14 - Former Egyptian Finance Minister Youssef Boutros Ghali was arrested Monday in Paris by Interpol hours after he arrived from London Egyptian state news agency MENA reported. Ghali the last finance minister to serve under former President Hosni Mubarak has been charged in Egypt for illicit gains and the wilful wasting and damaging of public funds. He had an international warrant under his name since he left Egypt in the wake of Mubarak's ouster in 2011. French authorities are investigating the former minister ahead of making a decision on whether to extradite him to Cairo MENA said. The 61-year old was sentenced in absentia to 30 years in prison on charges of corruption and abuse of power. He was given a 15-year sentence in a different case fined EGP 30 million and ordered to return a similar amount that he allegedly acquired during his time in office between 2004 and 2011
