Qatar Calls for Quicker Dispatch of Syrian Chemical Weapons

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) gue April 14 - The State of Qatar stressed Monday that the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) must ensure that the Syrian regime has disposed all of its chemical weapons. Qatar said in a statement during the 40th extraordinary session of the OPCW's executive council held here today that it was deeply concerned at the slow pace at which the Syrian regime is destroying its weapons. Qatar's permanent delegate to the OPCW Khalid Fahad Al-Khater and who is also chief of the Qatari delegation at the extraordinary session read the statement and called on placing clear and swift mechanisms that move the process along. Al-Khater said that the deadlines placed for removing Syrian chemical weapons were like domino pieces if one falls the rest would follow and would thus torpedo the whole goal and this is what is taking place now in Syria. The statement added that the OPCW must make sure there are no concerns regarding the storage of other chemical weapons in Syria which can be done by overlooking the transport of chemical weapons out of Syria
