IMF reforms at an impasse

(MENAFN) A G-20 official said that reforms to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are at an impasse despite financial chiefs' intention to go ahead without the US if it does not approve the changes, Khaleej Times reported.

The most sensitive issues for G-20 officials are the inability to give emerging markets a powerful voice at the IMF and the shoring up of the lender's resources

He said that attempts to break the package of reforms, proposed by the G-20 in 2010 would be disastrous not only for the United States, but for the whole group due to most countries having already started ratification procedures
