Saudi- Rotten poultry expired food seized

(MENAFN - Arab News) Field teams of the ministry of commerce and industry recently foiled the marketing of large quantities of rotten chickens unfit for human consumption in najran

The saudi press agency said that the rotten chickens were reportedly being loaded on to pick-up trucks in preparation for distribution to a number of restaurants and stores.

They were intercepted just in time by the ministry's inspectors who destroyed the items and referred those involved to relevant authorities for prosecution spa said

Inspection teams also uncovered 2000 units of expired foodstuffs in one store 3200 unlicensed cosmetic items and 3422 packs of expired paints the agency said

The ministry has maintained that it will continue inspection tours on markets food warehouses shops and commercial establishments to ensure they are up to health specifications eliminate fraudulent practices manipulation of consumers and curb the buying or selling of rotten and expired products

The ministry stressed that it will not tolerate violators of health standards or those involved in fraudulent practices which put the health and safety of customers at risk

The ministry called on all consumers to report complaints and observations to the report center at the ministry on its toll free number (800 124 1616).
