Oman- NCSI approves new regulatory board, discusses new strategies

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The board of directors of the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) held the first quarterly meeting of the year on Thursday.


The meeting was headed by Sultan bin Salim al Habsi, secretary general of the Supreme Council for Planning and chairman of its the board of directors.


According to a press release, the meeting discussed a number of issues including the approval of the regulatory board.


Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, CEO, NCSI, spoke about the performance of the centre during the first quarter of 2014. He also mentioned that the center has finished preparing the general framework of its plan and strategic vision for 2014-2020.


The strategy sets the course for NCSI to develop locally and regionally.


Dr Barwani in his speech also spoke about the tasks of each directorate, division, and department.


A presentation on the project of establishing a data portal, open data portal and a data warehouse, in addition to smart phone apps was also made.


The project, once approved, will take three months to complete and will be integrated with the general information portal of the centre.


The meeting concluded with the members discussing the current and future requirements and NCSI's strategy for the coming months.
