(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on Sunday decorated officers who had recently been promoted by His Highness the Amir and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah

Sheikh Mohammad handed a total 143 police officers their new insignia, including 37 promoted to Major Generals and 106 promoted to Brigadiers - according to two decrees signed by His Highness the Amir - at a ministry ceremony

In a speech on the occasion, the minister told the officers that he was gratified for His Highness the Amir and Supreme Commander's adoption of the rank upgrades, adding that both His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince were proud of the Kuwaiti police force

The moves are aimed at preparing a second generation of young security leaderships, able to carry out their duties in a responsible manner, he said

"These promotions are not the end of the road, instead, they are an introduction and a new impetus to providing further contributions to the security of the nation and instilling the rule of law on all," said the minister, congratulating the officers on their achievements
