One Officer Killed Five Others Injured in Slovuyansk Clashes


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) scow April 13 - Ukraine's Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said one military officer was killed and five others were wounded today in clashes between security forces and pro-Russian activists in eastern city of Slovyansk. He was quoted by Russian news agency (Interfax) as saying the protestors suffered a number of casualties. However he gave no details about the human losses. Ukraine's authorities deployed a large number of troops equipped with armored vehicles in the eastern city today in a bid to quell demonstrations by the activists calling for recognition of the Russian language and establishing a federal system in Ukraine
