(MENAFN- Arab Times) The security authorities have arrested about 100 people, 60 of them are believed to be Kuwaitis - people wanted by law for committing various kinds of offences and some of them who had been sentenced in absentia to jail terms varying between life in prison to 10 and 15 years, reports Al- Rai daily. The daily added, those arrested are part of about 6,000 people who are wanted by law and are still at large. The operation was conducted by about 100 securitymen and officers
The sources pointed out six of those arrested, included a woman of an Arab nationality who had been sentenced to life imprisonment in drug cases, while the remaining are convicted of attempted murder, kidnapping and rape, coercion, theft and others. The sources said the security crackdown was led by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lieutenant- General Suleiman Al-Fahd and Major- General Mahmoud Tabbakh
The sources stressed the security crackdowns will continue over the next few days until people wanted by law are arrested. The sources indicated that the concerned authorities in the Ministry of Interior had conducted a detailed study on the outlaws through follow-up and checking a list of people entering and leaving the country through land, sea and air borders and the exact number was found to be 5,300
