Kuwait- Financial Support Provided To Govt. Bodies Must Be Cut


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Head of Parliament's Budget and Final Accounts Committee MP Adnan Abdulsamad says the government is spending KD 6 billion as financial support, which however is not entirely allocated for the support of the citizens, as nearly KD 2 billion is allocated to governmental bodies such as KPC, which pays 1 fils for every kilowatt while the government pays the remaining 42-47 fils, reports Al-Rai daily



He insisted that the financial support provided to governmental bodies must be reduced so that they can be redirected to helping those who deserve such support



Regarding electricity, MP Abdulsamad indicated that those who require financial support must the specified including people with low income



He explained that there should not be a misunderstanding about expatriates being the only beneficiaries of related subsidies, adding that from a humanitarian perspective such subsidies should not be cancelled based on only this reason, as expatriates are also bearing huge expenses in paying for their children, rent, residency, medical insurance, and other such expenditures



He insisted that standards and regulations must be set for the disbursement of the financial support to deserving segments of the society
