Japan China Business Leaders to Promote Economic Ties


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) ijing April 12 - Business leaders from Japan and China have agreed to promote economic ties between the two countries despite the strained political relations. About 20 corporate leaders from Japan and China met on the southern Chinese island of Hainan on Friday to discuss Japan-China relations. The meeting was held behind closed doors on the sidelines of an Asian economic gathering known as the Boao Forum. According to participants the Japanese business leaders called for Japan and China to cooperate to resolve China's environmental problems. Chinese participants responded by expressing hope to build mutually beneficial relations even though it may take time to normalize relations in the political arena Japan's NHK World website reported. After the meeting Chairman Koji Miyahara of Nippon Yusen Kaisha or NYK Line said the participants are prepared for improved relations in the political domain to take time. But he said both sides agreed to work to increase exchanges between business executives of the two countries adding such dialogue has great significance. Chairman Chang Zhenming of the major Chinese financial group CITIC said the participants agreed that the business sector in each country should be the driving force for bilateral friendship
