(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) shington April 11 - US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel discussed developments in the Crimea region with Ukraine's Acting Minister of Defense Mykhaylo Koval the US Department of Defense said Friday. Assistant Press Secretary Carl Woog said in a statement today that Hagel commended Koval for his leadership of the Armed Forces during "this critical time" for Ukraine. He also thanked him for hosting recent bilateral defense consultations in Kyiv. The two ministers discussed the situation in Crimea as well as Russia's military activities along Ukraine's borders. The statement added that Hagel stressed to Koval the United States' commitment to supporting Ukraine in the future
