(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A car polish worker allegedly stabbed a workmate to death following a verbal brawl in which the latter allegedly insulted his mother and sister a court heard

The 23-year-old pakistani stabbed his compatriot deeply in the chest which caused him to suffer severe bleeding and failure in the brain’s functions.

He denied the murder charge in the court of first instance.

A 32-year-old pakistani mechanical assistant who witnessed the incident around 7.30pm on november 9 last year at the car workshop in al rashidiya said that they were all preparing dinner. “i was cooking while they were both cutting vegetables for the meal. they were talking about general things and soon their talk turned into a verbal brawl.”

The two men began insulting each other and then brandished knives against each other.

“i had to step in to try and keep them away from each other and calm them down. the victim put his knife on the table but the defendant kept holding it. the accused then suddenly attacked the victim and stabbed him in the chest” the assistant added.

The victim ran as he bled from the kitchen to the workshop calling for the supervisor.

When the defendant saw the blood he dropped the knife and fled the place. the victim was taken by the workers to the emergency unit at a nearby hospital.

A pakistani polish assistant 45 testified that he saw the victim running towards him with a stab wound in the chest. “he told me that the defendant stabbed him with a knife. he was bleeding from the chest and mouth. the victim then collapsed.”

The witness added that the defendant ran away from the workshop after he saw the victim badly injured. a policeman said that the victim was still alive at the hospital when they visited him in the surgery room. he died at the hospital shortly later.

The officer quoted the accused as admitting that he stabbed the victim because he insulted his mother and sister.

The forensic report said that the cause of death was the severe bleeding after the knife cut through the left lung and which resulted in a failure of the brain’s essential functions.
