Dubai to erect first peace dome during convention

Dubai will erect the first smart peace dome in the world during the third edition of the dubai international peace convention (dipc) slated to be held from april 17 to 19.


The convention presents a golden opportunity to accurately highlight islam’s teachings of peace as a doctrine that promotes harmony tolerance and moderation.


The announcement was made on thursday by dr hamad al shaibani director-general of the dubai islamic affairs and charitable activities department.

The move is in line with the vision of shaikh hamdan bin mohammed bin rashid al maktoum crown prince of dubai to transform dubai into the smartest city in the world over the next three years.


“visitors will be able to enjoy the story of creation in 7d technology that adds more entertainment to the viewer and makes key events more spectacular and unforgettable” dr al shaibani said.


Elaborating he said history is a record of the rise and fall of several nations. “it tells us about the nations that flourished in the past their way of life the goals they pursued the values around which their culture was organised their actions and the consequences of those actions.


“these mighty nations possessed power wealth dominion and technical knowledge. but as the generations passed by they became arrogant and contemptuous with least regard for other humans. they rejected the divine laws mocked and killed the prophets of god and worshiped stones and false deities.


“the dome theatre at the dubai international peace convention will take you through an immersive experience in to the lives of these mighty nations of the past that will leave you spellbound.”


Dr al shaibani who is also the chairman of the dubai international peace convention said they are doing their best to turn dubai into the capital of peace in the whole world.


“the uae in general and dubai in particular is the land of peace and tolerance with around 220 diverse nationalities smoothly coexisting together.”


Dr omar al khateeb vice-chairman of the dwpc said the premier event to include inter-faith panel discussions in multiple languages and to see 13 keynote speakers from around the world is meant to spread peace among all nationals and prevent clash of civilisations. a variety of renowned scholars are scheduled to give lectures mainly on peace at the shaikh rashid bin saeed ballroom at dubai world trade centre on three days — from 7pm to 11pm on thursday and from 10.30am to 11pm on friday and saturday.

The public will further enjoy a science fair the peace pledge campaign children’s corner and the 2014 peace football tournament for schools he added.

Dubai — the dubai international peace convention attracting thousands of visitors from around the world will see the richest peace prize money in the world being announced. however no person has been chosen for the award this year.


Dr hamad al shaibani director-general of the dubai islamic affairs and charitable activities department said the $1.5-million mohammed bin rashid award for world peace is to honour deserving individuals and organisations from around the world for exemplary contributions to world harmony and inter-faith dialogue.


“the award having nothing to do with politics shall be granted to characters institutions or even cities as per certain criteria which a special benchmarking taskforce is working on.”


“we have already studied and participated in a number of international peace prizes let alone seeking expertise from the noble prize committee and the united nations as part of a three-year strategic plan” he added.


Sultan bin mejren deputy chairman of the dubai international peace convention said the award aims to build bridges of cooperation between diverse cultures with a view to fortifying international relations.


“we have not yet decided on the winner of the $1.5 million reward who will be named in the coming years. a special jury has been set up to evaluate nominees according to world-class standards to ensure credibility and inspire higher accomplishments worldwide.”


Mohammed suhail head of the scientific committee of the convention told khaleej times that the event attracted hundreds of non-muslims and fruitfully corrected their distorted image and misconceptions about islam.


“the second edition of the conference saw the conversion of 35 people of different nationalities who voluntarily embraced islam.”


Dubai has become major hub in the region for friendly and peaceful initiatives in all aspects of life such as economy and most recently expo 2020. “the world is in a dire need of peace because of the escalating clashes and disputes everywhere” suhail said.


Dubai is a role model for peaceful coexistence where people from all over the world are living in harmony he added. “all religions and cultures are against violence and called for peace and tolerance.”
