(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Khimji Ramdas, with its extensive distribution network, is ideally positioned to promote wireless connectivity in the country, according to its director Anil Khimji.

He was addressing a press conference to announce the wireless connectivity feature in Nikon's digital SLR cameras (DSLRs) on Wednesday at City Seasons Hotel.

Nikon highlighted its commitment to wireless connectivity in DSLRs in partnership with Khimji Ramdas, its official distributor.

''With our long-standing presence and extensive distribution network, we are ideally positioned to spread the wireless connectivity movement across the country. Nikon offers Wi-Fi compatibility in almost all DSLRs in its entire line-up, starting from the entry-level D3200 to the D5300, with inbuilt wi-fi, to the iconic Df and the flagship Nikon D4S, and this is unique only to Nikon,'' Anil said.

Narendra Menon, regional head, sales and marketing, Nikon MEA, said the popularity of DSLRs and social photography is encouraging companies to experiment with camera design, and the youth are increasingly favouring DSLRs over other imaging devices. ''Nikon produces high-quality cameras, and we are constantly improving our products based on what consumers want. As the preference for Internet connectivity is increasing, we have expanded our portfolio of Wi-Fi enabled DSLRs.''

He said that Nikon's Wi-Fi enabled models, such as the Nikon D5300, have been performing well in the market, particularly with the rise in photo-sharing on social media.

The expansion of Nikon's Middle East office in Dubai has led to a hugely successful 2013 for Nikon, with the company achieving a better market share for digital cameras in the Middle East and Africa region.

''Nikon has seen a steady growth in the region. Business has doubled over the past three years,'' said Takashi Yoshida, managing director, Nikon MEA, ''In Oman alone, Nikon's business has grown by 50 per cent over the past two years, and the trend is expected to continue this year, particularly in the DSLR segmen
