MoSD staff, volunteers being trained in childcaredevelopment in Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Laying special emphasis on childcare development programmes, the Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) is organising a workshop for staff and volunteers working in this area.


A senior official in the ministry said that the workshop which began last month is seeing experts from Oman and abroad provide training to participants. ''This is a specialised training programme for field workers. Experts in childcare development and health are training these workers to deal with issues concerning children. The workshop, which began on March 23, will end on April 20.''


She said that the workshop focuses on personality development and child behaviour. ''The ministry wants to inculcate the habit of positive thinking among children. As part of this initiative, participants are being trained in childcare management. Short films are being screened to help them deal with children and their issues.


''Participants are being trained to observe behavioural patterns of children and respond accordingly. Latest findings of various studies on childcare management are being discussed at the workshop.''


Meanwhile, the ministry has briefed UNICEF about the steps, programme, and various projects being undertaken for childcare development and women empowerment across the country. At a recent meeting held in Oman, senior UNICEF officials were appraised about progress achieved in this area. 


''UNICEF officials were also briefed about several health-related and social upliftment programmes implemented in Oman.'' The official said the ministry is also reviewing various childcare programmes being implemented across the sultanate.
