Parliament is supreme: Asif
(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) In an apparent response to veiled warning that the army would preserve its dignity and institutional pride defence minister khawaja asif asserted in the national assembly that parliament has supremacy over all institutions
Asif said he never made any statement against the army as an institution but only spoke about former military ruler gen. pervez musharraf after his indictment on charge of treason. he said parliament can hold other institutions accountable. “parliament is a supreme organ of the state and it would preserve its dignity showing respect to all other institutions.”
Army chief gen. raheel sharif is believed to have been provoked by public statements made by khawaja asif and railway minister khawaja saad refique against musharraf.
