(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The interior ministry made foolproof security arrangements in islamabad after the bomb blast in fruit market area on wednesday
At least 23 people were killed and 70 injured in a huge bomb explosion at pir wadhai fruit market on wednesday morning.
Security in the red zone including constitution avenue and d-chowk was put on high alert and unauthorised persons were not allowed to travel through these routes.
Parliament house supreme court of pakistan pm house presidency secretariat diplomatic enclave constitution avenue d-chowk and area from ptv building to cabinet division were declared as red zone.
District administrators also directed inpector-general police islamabad to beef up security at exit and entry points of the capital and maintain strict vigilance against suspicious elements.
Security personnel have been directed to ensure strict security in the capital and search vehicles at all the exit and entry points of the city.
Islamabad police increased patrolling throughout the federal capital and extraordinary security measures have been put in place in and around parliament house as well as other sensitive installations in the city.
Meanwhile a police source said that strict checking of vehicles has been started at all entry and exit routes of islamabad due to security high alert in the capital.
He said officers of all police stations have been directed to take strict action against suspicious people and anti-social elements.
Meanwhile federal information minister pervez rasheed on wednesday said that condemnation of islamabad fruit market blast by taleban is great achievement of nawaz sharif’s government.
Talking to media persons at a hospital after inquiring after the wounded who sustained injuries in islamabad fruit market blast the minister said this was government’s utmost efforts that the elements carrying out terror attacks to kill innocent people are isolated.
He said the taleban have not only distanced themselves from islamabad and sibi blasts but also strongly condemned these attacks which is a great success of the government.
Rasheed said the elements who are carrying out acts of terrorism in the country have been isolated after taleban’s condemnation and the government would now handle these elements with an iron hand.
The minister said pakistan is moving fast towards financial stability and to make country’s economy stronger peace would be restored at all costs.
He said these elements wanted to weaken the state of pakistan but the government is committed to ridding the country of all crises. the minister said terror activities were taking place every day across the country but after his government’s sincere efforts this incident happened after a long time. — online
