(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Omran and the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) organised a networking meeting for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on Tuesday at the InterContinental Muscat.

The event was aimed at encouraging SMEs to forge business partnerships with local suppliers.

Wael al Lawati, CEO, Omran, said, ''There are SMEs that have innovative ideas and can grow if provided a bit of support. The event aims to provide opportunities to such SMEs. By interacting with authorities and industrialists, they can come up with great results. I am glad that the event has got a good response.''

Omran and OCEC plan to organise many more such meetings in future. Sumalya Alghaithi, who has been running an SME for three years said, ''I wish to attend more such meetings. Such events allow us to find solutions to our problems.'' The SMEs were encouraged to work together on projects. ''Joining hands and supporting each other can help accomplish many things,'' said Trevor McCartney, general manager, OCEC.

He said that OCEC provides entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet representatives from other countries. ''We will continue playing the same role in future, and will contribute towards the growth of SMEs by organising such networking meeting
