(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) With the theme of Eat, Drink, Help Those In Need', GUtech held a charity food festival on its campus recently.

The event was held as an opportunity for students and staff of GUtech to indulge their taste buds and raise funds for the #Oman Association for Disabled.

A GUTech official said, ''We are happy with the response. Twelve vendors distributed food samples for free.''

The event organised by the Students Affairs Department and the Students Council of GUtech also had cultural performances, a talk on healthy eating and a cooking competition for children.

A special cooking area was also set up for them.

The official said that this was the first ever charity food festival and the university plans to conduct it every year.

Renowned chef Issa al Lamki from Mandoos Restaurant was the judge for the students' cooking contest.

The winners were awarded medals and prizes.
