(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) ha April 09 - Military exercise Citadel II was concluded at Qalayel square Wednesday in the presence of HE Chief of Staff Major-General Ghanim bin Shaheen Al-Ghanim . Addressing the closing ceremony Brigadier Fahad Mohamed Al-Duhaimi the exercise's director said the drill is significant for promoting the skills of the armed forces and raising their combat capacity in modern warfare which requires diversification in arming and equipment. "Here we are today reaping the fruits of the training course after ensuring the desired goals are met through intensive training at the highest levels using the latest available methods" Al-Duhaimi said thanking all in charge of the exercise. "Citadel II is the main exercise of the armed forces at the end of the training course. It's a tactical exercise involving all leaders and branches of the armed forces the Emiri Guard and the friendly U.S. Air Force" he said. "The exercise was designed to achieve the mission of the armed forces in defending the territory and airspace of the state its territorial waters economic and vital facilities and infrastructure by repelling amphibious operations and air and sea landing operations as well as intercepting vessels that breach our airspace and waters" Brigadier Al-Duhaimi added
