Global investments in renewable falls 14 percent in 2013

China could pour more money into the sector than Europe for the first time on record



Investments in renewable fell to USD214.4 billion in 2013, down USD35.1 billion from 2012 and 23 percent below the record set in 2011



Achim Steiner, Executive Director of UNEP, said: "While some may point to the fact that overall investment in renewables fell in 2013, the drop masks the many positive signals of a dynamic market that is fast evolving and maturing.
