Investments in China's railway at USD117b in 2014


(MENAFN) General manager of the China Railway Corporation said that China is set to increase fixed asset investment in railway to USD117.1 billion, Xinhua reported



The general manager said that 49 new projects as well as 7,000 kilometers of new railway line will be added in 2014 in order to meet increased demand



Nearly 78 percent of construction investment will be earmarked for the central and western regions of China. Of the total newly added railways this year, the two regions will have 86 percent, the general manager added



China, through its five-year plan which spans from 2011 to 2015, plans to add 230,000 kilometers of new railway lines in the central and western regions, with an investment amounting to USD299.8 billion
