(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) A unique exhibition titled, Globalization, Connections and Time' is showcasing works created in a single day by 12 artists.
The exhibition, being held at Stal Gallery, is part of an OneDayWork' project initiated by German artist Yasemin Yilmaz which began in 2012.
As part of her project, Yasemin got 12 artists from six continents including Hassan Meer from Oman to create artworks in their own countries.
''Every artist who took part in the project found the idea interesting. On February 29, 2012 they created their work after reading the most read newspaper of their country or city on that day,'' Yasemin said.
The artists had a free choice of materials, technique and creation and had to complete their work within 24 hours, read a leading circulated daily and integrate the date of the newspaper into their work.
''Geographical borders and global time zones hinder interaction of people around the globe. But one specific day united them. I used this date to unite artists in different time zones to create a work series.
''The exhibition showcases, what events and what news influenced the artists on the particular date at different places and how they could reflect it in their artwork on the same day,'' she added.
Artists from Australia, Oman, New Zealand, Taiwan, US, Peru, Argentina, Germany, Swaziland, South Africa and Haiti have reflected in their works the relevant news of the day. The exhibition will be next held in New Zealand.
Meer in his artwork has used video and installation as a new form to express his ideas. His work also shows his personal experience and childhood memories.
The exhibition which opened on Monday was inaugurated by H E Hans Christian Freiherr von Reibnitz, Germany's Ambassador to Oman. It will go on till Apri
