Qatar Portugal Sign Agreement Minutes on Boosting Trade Exchange


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) ha April 08 - HE Minister of Economy and Trade Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed Al Thani and Portuguese Deputy Prime Minister Paulo Portas have signed the minutes of a mutual agreement to enhance trade exchange between the two countries. HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim said the signing which comes on the second and last day of the first session of the Qatari-Portuguese commission on economic trade and technical cooperation aims to boost trade exchange that stood at QR 676 million ($185 million) in 2013. He added that there are opportunities for the private sector in both countries to enhance joint investment pointing to some initiatives that were put forward and are being studied and discussed ahead of their implementation. The Qatari minister said bilateral agreements on investment and investor protection are being prepared noting that the two countries have agreements in place on double taxation as well as economic and trade agreement. During the two-day event the two sides reviewed cooperation ties in the economic trade and investment areas and agreed to take the necessary steps to develop them. They also reiterated their keenness on deepening cooperation and activating agreements and memoranda of understanding
