Nigeria's economy grows to USD453 b in 2012


(MENAFN) Nigeria saw a strong growth in its economy reaching USD453 billion in 2012, exceeding the expected USD264 billion for the same year by the World Bank, according to Oman Observer



Nigeria could rank first as Africa"s biggest economy as the government held a long-overdue rebasing of the country"s gross domestic product



Yemi Kale, Nigeria"s chief statistician, said that expectations for 2013 indicated further growth to reach USD510 billion



Finance minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said: "Nigeria has moved to be the largest economy by GDP size in Africa and has moved to be the 26th largest economy in the world.
