GCAA Joins Global Industry Leaders at Abu Dhabis Global Aerospace Summit


(MENAFNEditorial) The United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority joined leaders from the Aviation, Aerospace, Space and defence industries Today at the first day of the Global Aerospace Summit 2014. H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, GCAA Director General, opened the Summitaddressing over 1,500 delegates from 56 countries. Al Suwaidi welcomed all guests and delegates, affirming that the summit has truly become a platform for innovative discussions and key collaborations on present matters shaping the future of the globalaerospace and aviation industries. "Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general have become a global player and key vital hub for aerospace and aviation industrialization, while the capital of the UAE steadily continues to invest heavily into the future of aviation; not just locally, but regionally and internationally as well, through its unprecedented role in driving international cooperation and encouraging industry growth," said Al Suwaidi. He added: "The UAE is blessed to be positioned in a strategic location that connects the developed markets with emerging markets. We have used this opportunity to develop our infrastructure to become a world leading air transport hub, with two of the largest and leading airlines in the world along with their world class hubs. Establishing our position as a key player with the air transport sector was only the start for us." Other GCAA senior officials were present at the summit as speakers or panelist. Ms Laila Ali Hareb Al Muhairi, Assistant Director General Strategy & International Affairs, Mr. Ismaeil Al Belooshi Assistant Director General Aviation Safety Affairs, Ahmed Al Jallaf Assistant Director General Air Navigation Services and Capt. Aysha Al Hamili, UAE Permanent Representative to ICAO were present as well. Al Suwaidi also pointed that Abu Dhabi has entered into key strategic partnerships with world leading organizations to develop its manufacturing capabilities within the aerospace sector, enabling it to become a supplier to some leading global aircraft manufactures. "We are standing in front of ever growingindustry that hasits own challenges and opportunities, this is an exciting time not only for UAE, but for all countries participating in this summit to create a strong lasting partnership and build opportunities for cooperative and harmonised actions," added Al Suwaidi The Global Aerospace summit 2014 takes place in St. Regis hotel, Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi throughout 7th and 8th of April.
