Indian Carrier Kingfisher Trademarks up For Sale


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) w Delhi April 08 - Trademarks of India's domestic carrier Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) are up for sale media reports said Tuesday. A Mumbai-based Securities Trustee registered with the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has issued a notice of Security Interest inviting Expression of Interest (EoI) from entities to acquire KFA trademarks. Launched in 2005 and grounded since October 2012 after authorities suspended its licence KFA owes US $1.3264 Billion (Rs 80 Billion) to banks which earlier started the process of selling pledged properties. KFA is contesting 27 winding up petitions including one filed by a consortium of bankers. The airline's accumulated losses total US $2.663 Billion (Rs 160.235 Billion) as on March 31 2013 and its net worth on that date was minus US $2.1457 Billion (Rs 129.198 Billion). Kingfisher brand's value is pegged around US $497453743 (Rs 30 Billion). Bankers hope to recover only about US $165811568 (Rs 10 Billion) by selling some pledged properties helicopters and other assets.
