Confederations Cup in Brazil contributes USD4.3b to GDP


(MENAFN) The Confederations Cup hosted last year in Brazil has boosted the country"s gross domestic product, Xinhua reported. The Brazilian Tourism Ministry said that the cup helped boost the economy by nearly USD4.37 billion. A report by Foundation Institute for Economic Research (FIPE) said that of the total revenue, 58 percent remained in the host cities while the remaining 42 percent went to the rest of the country. The country"s Tourism Minister said: "The outcome shows that the impact of the tournament is not limited to the places where the games take place, it has an impact on all of Brazil."
